Nestled in the northeast corner of Spain,
Barcelona is Spain’s most cosmopolitan
and European City. Although the City
is large, it is easy to concentrate on
Old Town – for strolling, shopping
and people watching. We’ll do all three
along the lively pedestrian street, the
Ramblas. Barcelona is celebrated for
the architecture of Antonio Gaudi and
as Picasso’s home during his formative
years. We’ll have time to enjoy many of
Gaudi’s spectacular achievements and
time to visit the Picasso Museum.
Day 1
Morning arrival in Barcelona. After time to check in to our hotel and relax, we'll gather and board one of the colorful double decker tour buses that will take us to Barcelona's 'Gaudi country' where we'll be able to admire a number of Antonio Gaudi's signature buildings. We'll stop and tour the famous Sagrada Familia. Next, we'll wander over to the Parc Guell, the colorful park at the center of another of Gaudi's unfinished projects.
Day 2
This morning, we'll gather at the Placa de Catalunya and take a guided walk through the Barri Gotic (medieval section) of Barcelona. After lunch, you'll have time on your own - perhaps to find a place to paint or to continue exploring. This evening we'll venture onto the Ramblas, the City's main drag, one of Europe's greatest public spaces.
Day 3
This morning, our Picasso walk takes us through the streets of the master's youth and early career. We'll see the city that he saw and learn something of his formative years. After lunch, you may wish to visit the Picasso Museum or perhaps the Fundacio Joan Miro which holds the best collection of works by this master artist. Or perhaps the Ramblas will beckon you back for another stroll.
Day 4
10:00 a.m. Departure by private coach for Burgos. |
